In my apartments I have had quaint worlds I called my pad I created inviting metaphors and wrote with gentle wit while still in my drawers. I gently drew from experiences that I knew in quaint worlds I called home my center of this universal dome I reflected on lodgings come and gone and the countless doorbells I had rung. hungier nations slew and the mornings still saw dew I would continue to write and the early bird would seek flight. and search for lodgings, fair and true of the diaspora, this errant jew. There was one where old floors shaved and fresh coats of paint, laid a glaze... There I thought of Europe on a plan stayed a year and then to Italy, I ran. Saw life through a new pair of glasses in my first lodging in Trieste a musky old "pensione" with Deco art and walls of molasses. Then I graduated to apartments with students now here I tried to be discreet and prudent that passed quickly and I changed cities taking books and belongings wasn't pretty. The here and now is a top floor apartment with a golden park view far cry from a musky basement or the Italian country dew even further from the Arabian crisp air greeting me outside an apartment compound lair. Years later looking back on the many places apartments I have left without traces landlords come and go with ease this one now is yet harder to appease. And what a slease these landlords that used to please, but this poem is on the many pads My anguish on landlords is saved for later, my lads. LOL, sounds as if the landlords will get their sequel, a day in the court of poetic justice. Well done, well written, writer. |

Midnit, it's a healthy way to work out the unneeded frustration. I love squirrels for example but they've made their home under my balcony and the landlord doesn't give a hoot!Poetic justice for all! Canuckster, thanks for your feedback, the intent is too invite other poets to write about their habitats too |

LOL, maybe he would give a hoot if owls nested there? Sorry, I couldn't resist. BTW, I really did like the poem. It had many interesting twists and turns. |
