Way back then when time began
The Lord created all.
He filled the Earth and universe
With creatures great and small.
Amoeba to tyrannasuarus
Came by His command
And Earth was blessed with living things
Created by His hand.

He worked six days, the Good Book says
Then rested on the next
And though it seemed He did quite well
He really was perplexed
He said, "Saint Peter, I don't know...
With everything Earth has
There still is something it could use
To give it some pazzazz!"

The peacock was quite beautiful.
Gazelles were blessed with grace.
The lion's smile was filled with style
Upon a regal face.
But He still sighed, dissatisfied
Then smiled and said with glee,
"I'll make pefection!" That is how
Our Mushy came to be.

She shared her soup with Alley Oop,
Designed the leaf for Eve,
The Tower of Babel was all her
Idea,  some believe.
When Noah did his very best
To keep the ark afloat
For forty days and forty nights..
Just guess who steered the boat!

Some people think she built the Sphinx
And all the pyramids
While rumor has it she's the one
Who breastfed Pharaoh's kids.
Throughout the course of history
Some species came and went
But Mushy's indestructible
Because she's Heaven-sent.

The dinosaur will roam no more
It up and disappeared.
The Do-Do bird? Gone! That's absurd!
Well, it was kind of wierd.
The sabre-tooth? Gone! That's the truth!!!
So is the unicorn
But Mushy is still going since
The day that she was born.

So, on this day we join to say
Best wishes to this lass
Who's blessed us in so many ways
With charm and style and class.
Let's raise our glass to her, enmasse
And fill her with our cheers
With hopes that she will live to see
Another million years!

You are ever so right, for her to tell me to write about the Phoenix and then about Persephone, why who indeed would have known she had been around to see?!

Happy Birthday, Girl!

’Deer dearest heart Oh my I knew you were good, but I never knew you were this good. To write such utter fiction about me and make it sound believable YOU have to be the best. I’m not denying I was there you understand I’m just saying it was more that I was the fly in the eye than the oil in the engine if you know what I mean.

Wonderful pressie darling boy as always sheer poetic perfection, unlike me who couldn’t do perfect if it fell on me. Truly the line and flow in this is absolutely excellent

Thank You a poetic reply

I could write a rhyme packed with praise galore
Or say you’re wonderful and mean so much more
I could offer to bake a cake to show you I’m sweet
Or say that reading you is a perfect poetic treat
I could blow you a kiss from across the deep sea
Or say that I’m awed by your skill with poetry
I could make this simple and say Oh I do thank you
Because in this instance it is utterly utterly true

Your use of metre is unsurpassed my dear friend
And I ask that you continue to write without end
You spread delight and happiness with every word
You make poetry a thing felt as well as heard
Never before has starlight settled on a page like this
It’s like being enclosed in light or an angel's kiss
Whether sad or happy written short or long
I will ever want to listen to a ‘Deer poetic song

To say thank you that’s not enough for this treat
This is a delight that is more than merely sweet
A poem that had me laughing with sheer delight
It brought magic and gaiety into my wondering sight
You are a master of your art that much is clear
And I thank you for this my marvellous friend ‘Deer
A friend of skill who delights and entertains me
I thank you so much for my wonderful poetic pressie

Marsha

You do know I love it don’t you? Mmmmmm it is utterly utterly excellent

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Marsha is one of the most caring people I've met on here!
Always a pleasure to read your poems, Michael, and this one
did her proud.

Deer,
you got her in one...except I'm not sure comparing her to gazelles is a good idea...galumphs maybe.

And Mushy, do I wish you happy...mmmmm you know I do, everyday of the year.

Keth.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
