The Male Muse Most think the muse is a She Wafting words quite easily, And yes, She has visited me Sometimes O so steadily But muses indeed can be male Lending thoughts without fail They keep me from feeling stale Putting wind to my sail. I talk of Neil and Rod so much Two by whom I’ve felt their touch How do they know the words to speak? Do you suppose a muse they seek? Both are poets, musicians fine Here, feel the fire, pour the wine Sit beside the muses, and me Loosen up in heart’s harmony. Not all poets are singers, true Not all singers find words’ ensue When you can find a poet’s song His own words’ write belong. I’ll listen to an artist sing your write, But would rather your voice pen the night Let me listen to the song of your heart In poetic verse, it’s a good start. Perhaps our voices do not lend sound To be singers with careers renown, But allow my words to sing to you As yours steadily carry me through… ©Karilea Rilling Jungel 19 January 2002 |

Ahhh yes....our poets who put their words to music and harmony....so many times Ive found inspiration in Jackson and Van ... and yes...your Rod Mc. I had to smile at the title of this and your first lines...I have had more debates with fellow poets over what to call ones muse? I have always said "my" muse...that was born to me...is a "she" of course...and assumed it would be a "he" for the men poets...his muse... but the outside muses that we find our inspiration in,-- those are usually our most giving muses ... the ones that light a fire in the muse that lives inside us. Does any of this make sense LOL...tis waaaay to early to be philosophical..I havent had me tea yet See how you get me thinking with your muse's lovely musings!!! MUSE ON It's not like you to say sorry |

See now Karilea...you have me thinking...I never considered the fact that I may indeed have a male muse, but, now I am going to be listening more carefully, just in case! Good write, and I love Rod, his music and his writing. Wonderful thoughts here Karilea! ~Hugs, Nancy~ ~Time has cast a spell on you, |

Sunshine very good thought here to consider, I always wonder where the words come from, and I always consider my Muse to be God, I suppose it could be different for each individual. very nice piece here, floria |

(smiles) Ooohhhhhhh...this is soooooo wonderfully thought-provoking, sweet friend, yes, yes, throughout time many men became bards that always sung their songs to their ladies and to the world, and troubadours, and I believe we all have part of that voice in our Muses. (smiles) I usually find much of my Muse to be feminine, but I too see some male in mine! (kiss on cheek) Wonderful expressive poem, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

My muse has always been a female It's been that way from birth. The first was Mother Nature and The second...Mother Earth. It's always been a lady who Has helped my pen to rhyme And the only one to stop it Is that evil Father Time!!! |

Now Karilea you "know" I know one of those inspirations well, and his words came to him just as easily as you seem to find yours. Remind me to tell you the story about my white shoe one time! Now, I am not sure what the heck my muse is, but I do know I am inspired instantly by art, and music, does that have gender? Muse on dear lady, for whomever he is he serves his purpose well. ~* CARPE' DIEM *~ |
