Every day Sarah Jones took a walk in the park she'd stare at the initials carved in the bark. Talking to her companion while feeding the doves telling the same story of a long lost love. Her companion didn't speak, but listened with care to all of the words that Sarah wanted to share. Sarah spoke softly of a man she once knew with a smile so bright, and eyes oh so blue. Talking for hours, or just bits at a time her companion listened, never seeming to mind. They always found their way to her favorite tree the ducks on the lake she wanted to see. She'd speak of life, of love and such things often saying "You never know what life might just bring." Everyday then Sarah would say her goodbye always adding "Meet me tomorrow, or at least please try." Then one day Sarah went to her favorite tree although her companion was no where to be. Suddenly then from the corner of Sarah's eye an elderly man touched the initials and started to cry. With trembling fingers she reached to touch his hand her own had once matched his wedding band. He said he couldn't believe it was true after all of these years and they embraced through the happiest of tears. Gone they had said, but she never gave up hope her companion had helped her learn how to cope. She had found the strength to travel lifes way believing again she would see him some day. Then Sarah prayed, " I know you can hear, and I know your lingering somewhere near. Then through the tears on her face softly glistening she whispered "Thank you Lord, for always listening." 01-19-2002 On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free. ~Me~ (I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance~Garth) [This message has been edited by Gentle Spirit (01-19-2002 12:55 AM).] |

GentleSpirit, I miss your picture and fear a story is behind that empty spot. However, know I am thinking of you. This poem is fabulous...a keeper and requires a quiet moment to reflect and appreiciate fully which I will do during a quiet moment after church. Thank you and strength and peace to you kind friend. |

Elizabeth so glad that you enjoyed. Rose, good to see you again. Glad you enjoyed it. Lauren, your words touch me. I sit in envy of so many great poets here at passions, and am just glad that I can learn from them. Thanks hon Startime, no need for tears. This story came to me in the middle of the night, so I just had to get up to write it. Oh Larry no, there is no sad story behind the picture being removed The intent was to only let it there for a while so I could share the one who makes me smile. He's still making me smile, no worries there. Just waiting to find an appropriate picture to put up. That one was really posted just for a short time period. Thanks for the thoughts though. And I am so glad that you enjoyed the story. Hugs to you. On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free. |

Gentle Spirit, This brought a tear to my eye and a warm feeling in my heart. I really enjoyed reading this. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |
