Midlife Romance
second time around
our heads are in the clouds
but our feet are on the ground

a grandma and a grandpa
silver in our hair
a glimmer in our eyes
tenderness to share

midlife romance
we took another chance
old enough for wisdom
young enough to dance

a grandma and a grandpa
our salad days are past
seasoned by the years
we know that life goes fast

midlife romance
a gift for two to share
this grandma and this grandpa
we make a perfect pair

Lyra,
when you smile like this all the wrinkles disappear from your face and when you write like this you are ageless.

Lyra,
You need to speak up. I don't read as loud as I used too. Every man needs a woman like you to keep them feeling young.

Lyra, you now glow in your poetry. David must be good medicine. This is so sweet, close to mushy but a pleasure to read. Cheryl

*giggling* I think midlife romance has so much more to offer...Love keeps us young...This poem is a delight for this grandmother to read....**big hugs** You are one lucky lady to have found a grandpa to share such love with.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I read your critique note, but I just don't see anything wrong with this one! I liked, no, I LOVED this!!! It has such a wonderful quality to it. We may grow older, but our hearts grow bigger, filling up with all the love we've had in our lives previously. I'm in my twenties, but as each years goes by I'm learning to love better! This was great! Well done!!! Bravo!!!

Floria, Juanita, Lauren, Noah and Melton...thank you all for your nice replies....
This was a fun poem to write.
I actually started writing it in the dentist's office while I was having my teeth cleaned.
