This pom was inspired by the changing of site format from one system to another on another site without having created a forum to discuss the poet's view, eliminating the emoticons. The reason may have been justified to create site which offered more space, but the new site was less 'home'. Here is where I will write no more will not be seeing an accumulated score all those points I have so carefully laboured forall the wit poured out for a site, soon out the door. I am reticent to accept the change to a new sitenot knowing how to create a stake there without an inner fight; my creative mind struggles, will this new site create a better day once there is increased traffic?... I am sorry to say... I came on board deciding to write for points And worked my way gradually to be a laureate anointed; But suddenly the system ruling changed, I became a novice once again and was much disappointed. A point system is what I’d like to keep Others too would benefit from the merits they seek; This new site does not seem to offer that accreditation And I’m afraid it will lose much interest without hesitation. So here was I, working up from being a licensed poet Trying in vain to reach a 'higher' level and know it; On the new site, poets will only be allowed to select a rating But how efficient is that, to measure skill, I am now debating. I am reticent to judge another work as poor feeling that poet would surely think of me as a boor; I would begin to worry about what the other artist thinks, wouldn't many react negatively, if their ratings did begin to stink? Having created friends on this poetry site would keep writer objectivity out of mind and sight; how then would it be just to issue fair ratings and risk receiving accreditation with no just debating? "Age is a matter of mind, and if you don't mind it's doesn't matter" - Jack Benny [This message has been edited by ecrivan (01-15-2002 03:37 PM).] |

Martin, It was a sad day when that door closed, but many of our friends are here. I'm still trying to convince Vanessa (Violetness) to come over here, but she is very busy. This poem spoke for a lot of us. Glad I got to read it again. Roger |

I'm new here so I'm probably missing the salient points of what you are saying here. It's certainly a passionate write and I can understand the inconvenience of change. Thanks for sharing this. |

Ecrivan it is so dissapointing when you stay for a long time on a board and work hard only to have it changed on you. I know. In my view, this board is the best. floria |

Thanks Canuck, change in this virtual world is worth discussing, some people thow tend to fill that there is no human element associated to it and there is. Strbbx, this site is overall the friendliest and it deserves my creative punch! Dave, I hear you |

Martin, I went back there recently and noticed that there were a whole bunch of new names and a general lack of familiar ones. Do you think everyone changed their name? Its really too bad that they couldn't keep it the way it was, but then we wouldn't have found this wonderful place. This is what happened to MTC. Cheers! copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Thanks all for your fond wishes, change is difficult to make sometimes but it was more than just a question of that; hence the scars as Dave points out, am not as optimistic of the virtual world as I was. I will keep posting here because of the freedom you have granted us. This posting serves as a message to all that we are people after all not just numbers |
