what stands before us all?

I've become old in the Quest for the dreams of youth. The gray hair is there and less to complain of the change.

When did all this happen?
While I was looking down?
Shoulders bent unto the task.
This good worker stood ready.
To defend the ethics of honor and of right.
Ready to fight.
To do the best for.
And there the question lies.
What was all this for?

Have I reached one single open door?
All locked tight and battened down.
This paths for others, you go round.
And what of that one and clearly open door?
It stands before us all.
There in, once again,
lies the question we should attend.
Why we, while
slamming
clambering
stammering
scrapping to be first.
Could ever, really,
for victory, dare thirst.

Would it not more gracious seem?
To carress the moments.
Aloft in dreams.

Maybe clouds can teach our way?
For if it's rain.
What matters day?
Or night or land or sea.
Float on by and rain
it will be.

Deep thoughts are flowing in these words...the questions we all ask at different times in our lives are put forth here...I wonder do we ever find the answer...Great writing. **big hugs**
