Winter’s Wind It only feels incumbent upon me To attempt an explanation Of dry But I cannot, for the wind Has stripped the ground Again, there is nothing To show but bare That it is winter and naked, Trees cannot shush me, only Dance their skeletal limbs In mock joy that they’ve Nothing to lose It has not yet pushed me Away, The dry, nor the wind, Perhaps my faith in coming Rains is deeper than any Well that might be said Wind pushes the ground as if Covering it in search, Looking again for the Toeprints of its children In time Man may not hear the echoes Of whispers in the night But woman does, For she has pushed, at one Time or another, harder Than any man at a Plow, and he still holds it Against her, That spirit of knowing More So it is one with woman, The wind, The push, The search… That is why in its’ howling, She can hear its cry For it is only the echo Of her joys And losses It is some thing That a man may never know… ©Karilea Rilling Jungel 14 January 2002 |

the strength. . . and the sorrow. . . that only a woman can know. . . you speak of it here very well my friend. . . I like how you made the transition from one to the other so seamlessly. . . well done. . . ------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Karilea~ Awesome with a hint of woman's delicate strength~ 'That it is winter and naked, Trees cannot shush me, only Dance their skeletal limbs In mock joy that they’ve Nothing to lose' 'Wind pushes the ground as if Covering it in search, Looking again for the Toeprints of its children In time Man may not hear the echoes Of whispers in the night But woman does,' I could easily have copied the entire piece for it's brilliance of verse~ Impeccably presented beauty of thought~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
