Your face looked so tired and drawn As you struggled for your breath As I sat there holding your hand The day before your death These memories often resurface On the days when I'm feeling down As I wallow in my sorrow And amongst my tears I drown Seventy eight years old You would have been on this day As I pick flowers from my garden To place them where you lay The flowers I left before Have all shrivelled and turned brown How very well they compliment The sadness of my frown I come here alone in silence Never knowing quite what to say I just feel the need to be near you In this sad place where you lay I don't stay here for very long Just a few minutes will do As the tears fall oh so freely How very much I still miss you As I turn and walk away The wind envelops my trembling form As I remember with such fondness How your arms used to keep me warm I leave here alone in silence And I'll return here very soon While I take great comfort in knowing You're part of the sun, the stars and the moon THIS WAS WRITTEN IN MEMORY OF MY ADORED FATHER WHO PASSED AWAY FROM ASBESTOS CANCER IN MAY 1999. I GUESS YOU NEVER GET OVER LOSING SOMEONE YOU LOVE AND THEY ALWAYS REMAIN A PART OF YOU. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS. TAKE CARE......SUE Suetang |

Sue, I always love your poetry. What a wonderful poem recalling your father and what his loss has done to your heart. Thank you so much for sharing. Sin isn't fair, but God got even, grace isn't fair either. larry c |

Hi Sue This brought tears to my eyes! It reminds me of how very much I miss my grandmother, and she's on my mind more as the holidays get closer! Your dad is smiling down on you right now, so proud of his little girl! Thank You for sharing, it means a lot! |

I come here alone in silence Never knowing quite what to say I just feel the need to be near you In this sad place where you lay I don't stay here for very long Just a few minutes will do As the tears fall oh so freely How very much I still miss you I often do this too. Up to his death I really never visited cemeteries..I felt them so cold..but when I go now I feel the warm touch me, the tears always fall, and a breeze always takes my messages of love and loss to him. I really believe that. If only I could hear his answers to my questions...I know this feeling deeply. Thank you for sharing. hugss ~Wynter "For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. |

Beautiful thoughts Sue, for a much loved father. You are very right when you say he is never forgotten. I feel the same way for my mother. I don't get to her grave as often as I should, but there is never a day goes by that she is not in my heart, that she is not a part of me. Your father is always with you, where ever you may be. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Suetang, I'm glad you loved your father so much. I know it's very hard to let go, for I have had to do it too. But in time you will find fond memories will begin to fill your heart; And those will be treasures you cherish and with which you'll never have to part. From my heart to yours. JoMason |

Suetang, This was a beautiful tribute to your father. I hope that I touch my children's hearts like your father touched yours. Roger |
