It is not the pain we suffer in life
But how we stand up to that painful strife,
What we do upon being beaten down,
Not moaning shattered upon the hard ground.

Get up, stand up, and face that coming pain.

How does the suffering not cause despair,
Even when alone with no one to share,
Can you not become weak and despondent
With all of life’s trials constantly sent?

Don’t wait, stand straight, and face the coming pain.

Then when that next blow comes crushing once more,
And you lay battered of soul on the floor,
There’ll be no question of what you’re to do
Just turn toward it and then you face it too

Gloom

I knew you were writing--
I waited for you.
Words sit there smiling
on each one I chew
like taffy of wisdom
each syllable dwells...
I knew you were writing
release from my hell.

with love, my friend.

Yes, indeed, sometimes the hardest part of the day is standing up...

Very well said. So much hope in your words. I may be able to draw some strength from them, myself.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Oh my! I certainly needed this right now. This should be a must read for all the people out there who feel like they can't face another day. I like it sir.

This is full of wisdom and certainly does speak to those that feel beaten, and can't get up one more time.  You make these look so darn easy!  Excellent as usual.

although I am sure this is written for someone,
I have watched you stand up to pain, face each day as it comes and survive...in a way  you are my hero, something I don't think I have ever told you...and  your strength was something I admired as it sometimes passed it's power onto me...making my todays wonderful, my yesterdays memories and my tomorrows filled with hope.

You do write well, Professor

Better late than never, eh?  A very meaningful piece written by one who stands.  I wish I had your strength!  (I'm saving this for a time or two that I may need it.)  Thanks for being such a good friend to all.

my trademark:  "scatterbrained"-you're right!  Do you believe I forget to check the box that would magically take this to my library?   (I'm sure you do!)  This time, I've placed my mark!

         Adios.
