The First Snowfall There were snowfalls elsewhere, earlier, I know But the first snowfall here, a vision of show Beauty, light, merriment, glee, As frost-white snowflakes encircle me. Wet large snowflakes, an artist’s delight Came down ‘round my head late, late one night, Half-dollar sized, sifting from angels’ wings Drift to my corner, hearing hearts ring. Now mornings’ revelation proclaims, Snow clings to trees, our world, not the same, ‘Tho it disappears, and melts its merry way, I am glad to be here, just to see this day. ©Karilea Rilling Jungel 5 December 1999 revised 31 December 2001 |
