Pleasure, fleeting |

There's a sadness hanging o'er me- I know that you are gone. And a melancholy future- That I'm facing all alone... But the loner's life I've chosen- I've no one else to blame... There's nought that's new beneath the sun Each day drags on the same. The nights are long and lonely- The days drag by like years... The teardrops soak my pillow, As I wrestle nameless fears... Like, "What have I to live for?" Or, "Where to go from here?" And always in the shadows- Your presence seems so near. I've heard it said, "It's better far- To love and lose, my friend... Than find that you have never loved, When life is at an end." Perhaps it's true, I cannot say- But 'tis a sad refrain... To think that pleasure fleeting- Produces endless pain. |

Very well expressed, John, as are all your poems. Nice pic, too! |
