For Whom He Weeps |

For Whom He Weeps I know where poet’s passions rest For I have dwelt in poet’s nest Unknown to most, but to himself A sacred book uponhis shelf I am the flashing fire that burns And wind that round his spirit churns It’s on the purest page of white Where passions flow and warm the night He takes the weathered book of black Caressing leather front and back Then slowly opens up the book As though his first enticing look Exquisite words, poetic art Once captured in a poet’s heart In ink of black he scrolled my lines A portrait that his heart defines I feel his hand and pressing thumb Turn back the pages one by one Then face to face with poet’s eyes I see the depth of heaven’s skies He gazes straight into my soul The lyrics of his nightly goal And in the verse that gently flows The visions of a crimson rose I am a simple lovely verse An angel’s gift, a devil’s curse For every night he reads my page His heart so lovingly engaged The tears of sorrow lightly land Upon my white or poet’s hand I know not if he weeps for me Or subject of his poetry I only know he has inscribed A crimson rose that dwells inside A book of verses he had penned For his sweet love, I know not when And it is I he turns to first His cherished prize, his favorite verse Though I’m his sonnet of delight I spur the sorrow of his night He knows each lovely phrase by heart And yet aloud from lips depart A lyric verse that softly flows A poem entitled "Crimson Rose" Could it be I for whom he weeps A song of love before he sleeps? Or is it she who draws a tear The crimson rose, from year to year? Elizabeth Santos |

Miss Elizabeth - I do declare this is my absolutely, positively, favorite! Now I know why no graphics or music is really necessary. I saw him, and like any poet with an extremely good book, I felt the pleasure of caressing the front and back of the leather bound book while reciting the "crimson rose" aloud. And your last lines are unanswered questions indeed. *wink* is there an answer? Oh brother I loved this one Liz. |

"I am a simple lovely verse An angel’s gift, a devil’s curse For every night he reads my page His heart so lovingly engaged" This is the most beautiful, heart-touching poem I've ever read in Passions. Elizabeth, the emotions you capture in these words bring tears to my eyes. This is amazing.. simply amazing. ...And I'm left speechless. --Marie "It's been a long December, and there's reason to believe that maybe this year will be better than the last." (Counting Crows) |

Wow, this is exquisite. Touching, tender, and incredibly beautiful. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Elizabeth, how delicate, beautiful and breathtaking is this poem...so much so that only the word exquisite seems to fit. Exquisite dear one. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |
