Mmm ... Welshcakes.

Being from Wales and a woman,
With needs that must be fulfilled.
I often yearn for a welshcake
but it has to be made by the skilled.
Not just any welshcake,
can satisfy the yearning.
It has to be baked with loving care
and prepared with genuine feeling.
It needs specific ingredients,
with a very secret blend,
and it only tastes exquisite,
when cooked by a special friend.
Who knows just how you like them,
and no shop could ever sell,
the ones that they make, just for you,
because they know you well.
yet, however many try and try
the perfect one to bake,
nothing on earth that can ever compare,
to the Welshcakes your Grandma would make.

never had a welshcake...but I can relate, but with me it's GUMBO...I wish she would have written down the recipe, but she kept it so carefully guarded that no one was even allowed to WATCH her cook it...sigh...

thanks for bringing back memories!

I have the same kind of thing, but it isn't Welshcake, it is banana bread, and my grandma makes the best banana bread in the world!
