I sit here on my lumpy cot- And take a look around. The bunkhouse sure gets lonely, When the boys all go to town. They'll take their hard-earned money- And throw it all away- I guess I must have done the same, Back in my younger days. But now it all seems different- The lights don't seem so bright. I'd rather sit out on the steps, And watch the stars at night... I'll ride my gentle ponies- And let the kids get throwed, This cowboy life I'm living- Is all I've ever knowed. I like to smell the coffee- On the stove with breaking day, And eat the beans and biscuits- In the old chuck-wagon way... No time for play or parties- Nor kids, nor home, nor wife... I find I am contented, Just to live the cowboy life. |

Hey John, I once knew and loved a cowboy, and he would not change his life for anything. Sounds kind of peaceful. Happy New Year. Sandra |

Sounds lonely to me, cowboy, but the poem is very well-written and would make a good song! With all best wishes, Glenn Logan |
