The Red Sun
~~~~
Dense forests ablaze
Ash rains down from veil of grey
The red sun peeks through
Angel of Darkness
~Note~
Since Christmas Morning there have been over 100 fires deliberately set in the state of NSW in Australia, including the Reserve behind my house and my neighbours. We and our homes were not hurt.
I pray for the people that have lost their homes and I pray for their safety.
Maree, my luscious one, how glad I am to know that you are safe, and how sorry I am for the senseless destruction of the land and people you love. It seems enough to handle the things we can't control, but when man wreaks havoc on man, (and earth) it is truly beyond my comprehension.
Hugs to you my sista...our hearts in prayer are with you and yours.
Here's hoping the sun will peek through all that much brighter as the fires are brought under control. I'm with serenity - I can't understand what drives "humans" to destroy their God given beautiful home yet we do it in countless ways everyday. Thanks for sharing your powerful haiku.
I'm glad to know you're safe! Reading about this is scary. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts.
(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Maree, this is so very sad, my heart cries out to all these poor people and their families and pray that these fires can be stopped. (sigh) So sad but beautiful, sweet friend, your words are always so wonderfully expressed! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Maree, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
Maree--I have been thinking of you, hoping you were safe, and although this is so sad and my thoughts are with those who have lost so much, I'm so glad that you are okay!  Hugs!
I enjoyed this very much, though to my taste it would have more impact without the last two words, and incidentally would have more of the FEEL of a haiku even though it would be only of 15 sylables.  If you insist on keeping it 17 sylables, you could always insert a word to tell the season (summer, autumn, or winter) , which I'm told traditionally was a haiku requirement. Sorry to quibble, but it IS a good poem!
With all best wishes,
Glenn Logan
This is a horrible thing!  To just lose your home is a bad thing, but to know it was caused deliberately be another person, has got to be just saddening.  I am gald that it wasn't you who suffered the consequences of these horrible acts.
This reads like a part of an Opeth song. I could feel the nature in your words.
the pollution caused by wildfires does lend itself to some beautiful sunsets--and in this case some beautiful words to describe one....
I have been keeping up with the situation via firehouse.com  -- the coming weekend does not bode well--- have you and my aussie brothers and sisters in my prayers.
this is from the firehouse website---
Firefighters were bracing themselves for a horror weekend with temperatures set to soar towards 40 degrees Celsius (104f)in fire-stricken parts.
Sunday will be especially dangerous around Sydney, with low humidity, a forecast temperature of 39 degrees (102f)and fresh to strong north-easterly winds - the worst possible cocktail for bushfires.
take care Mmy--remember--belongings can be replaced... hugs
Beautiful write on such a tragic event that is occurring in your country.  I read about the fires today in the paper.  It didn't sound like they were even close to getting those fires under control  I hope they are able to get control of it very soon.
Maree - I'm relieved to read that you are safe.  It is tragic that others felt the need to set do this kind of destructive act.  Your haiku was beautiful, BTW.
Dear friends, thank you so much for popping by and having a read and for your support even though MY support hasnt been good as of late. I do aplologise and I will do my  best to not be slack and to sit my cute little ahem bottom right here on this falling apart chair lol and read more of your wonderful work.
so far there have been no fatalities or serious injuries thanks to God and those hard working firefighters, the mojority of them volenteers. God Bless them.
From firehouse.com (thanks Jamie )
"More than 4,400 people have been evacuated and at least 150 homes and thousands of acres of forest and farmland have been blackened by more than 100 fires, many of which were apparently lit deliberately."
I thank the Lord that lives haven't been lost.
Sigh, this is summer and I guess at this time of the year we should expect it to happen deliberately lit or not...unfortunately.
Thanks again all
