Have you ever watched the sun go down, Out on the Great Divide... And known that when the East was gray, You'd saddle up and ride? Have you worked from daylight thirty- Till the sun was long in bed... And fell into your bunk, still dressed- To rest your weary head? Hard work, long hours, and little pay... That is the cowboy life... It's a stingy kind of living- For a man with kids and wife. But the freedom you experience- Will never go away... You'll bear it in your heart and mind- Until your dying day. And I've been there and I've done that- I have the scars to show- The lessons learned along the way. The price of being slow. I might not do it all again... But I'm glad that I can claim... I rode my broncs, and pulled my weight, And "Cowboy" is my name. [This message has been edited by John Yaws (12-26-2001 12:24 AM).] |
