Ah, Faith! Another year is gone. I've seen so many pass... Aye, left a lot o' friends behind, An' many lovely lass... I bore the gladius o' Rome. A gladiator, aye!! 'ail Ceasar! We salute ye- 'oo are aboot to die! An', aye, I sailed the Spanish Main... Wi' Edward "Bloody" Teach- We raped an' pillaged every port, Our frigate fair cou' reach. I've seen the deck awash wi' gore, An' 'eard the dyin' moans... An' sent me share o' Grandees- To lodge wi' Davy Jones! I wore the bloomin' kepi... O' the Strangers Legion, too... An' died along wi' others- At the farce a' Dien Bien Phu. Aye, I cou' spin a hundred yarns- But wha' would they avail? The multitude will never 'ear- Nor 'eed the Traveler's Tale. |
