At Christmastime all thoughts of you
Are spread around my lonely place
And everything I say and do
Remind me of your happy face

You came and went so swiftly dear
Yet, I remember you each year

The stocking hung here with no glee
Is just a silly children's game
There's no joy or mystery
And you can only take the blame

You came and went so swiftly dear
Yet, I remember you each year

You filled my heart, my very soul
It was you alone I sought to touch
It was you could make me whole
I learned to trust you very much

You came and went so swiftly dear
Yet, I remember you each year

Another year has come and gone
And still my thoughts return to you
Santa Claus! Look what you've done
Made me believe though you're not true

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Hi Kethry,
This is a great poem!
You got me hooked on it.
I was hoping that it was not a sad tale of personal loss and Santa saved the day!
Merry Christmas!

I had chance to give of me
tho little did I have
but my heart swelled its bleed
like a soft, and warming, salve

When you write, Kethry, you leave gifts aplenty...

Write on, little One...and fill all stockings...

Keth - I really enjoyed this sad Christmas write.  Made me think of a little kid all alone on Christmas with no gifts in the stockings, no presents under the tree, and now facing the realization that there is no Santa.  Of course, we all know there really is one.  I'm right, right, he does exist.lol  Nicely done.

I loved this one, Keth....It intrigued me, making me think it was about a tragic loss or a child grown up and gone away...until your last verse.
Very well written!
It reminds me of a time when my younger son was about 4 yrs old...I overheard him tell his older brother (then 9 yrs old) that there really was no Santa Clause...it was just mommy and daddy pretending.
Then I heard my older son reply that "of course there was a Santa Clause...and that if he didn't believe, Santa wouldn't bring him any toys"
I always thought it was funny that the younger one stopped believing before the older one...until just the other day, I realized that, he was just trying to keep the spirit alive for his little brother...
Merry Christmas

Well, I was hoping it was Santa Claus you were mourning...well, your youth. One consolation is the comic I saw earlier this week...Santa watches us for 1 month of the year and God the other 11. Of course it was a little girl telling her brother and as adults we know that God watches out for us all 12.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I can feel the loneliness in this.  Very good, and hoping this isn't entirely real.  Merry Christmas.

Very nicely written, Kethry...great rhyme and flow!  ALL fiction, of course, because, as everyone else has said, we all know that Santa really is the one who eats the cookies we leave!!     Love the poem!

touching poem, sobers up people's minds I think..there is a sense of dispair you leave behind,  but we need at least a few days where we can try our best to make do with our gains and losses and look to brighter moments. Happy Holiday again, and thanks for your good wishes!
