We're fingernails
we're custom made for scratching backs
and peeling pricetags off giftpacks

you color us in fancy shades
reds...pinks...whites...oranges
and even jades

you polish us in crazy hues
to match your clothing
and your shoes

tonight you will not do the dishes
cook a meal
or feed the fishes

can't touch a thing until we're dry
or we might smudge and make you cry
you'll get so mad at us for that
you'll not let us scratch any backs

but if, tonight you let us rest
tomorrow we will look our best
and we will make you feel so happy
we'll once again, be nice and scratchy

have you ever had the sensation of nails down a blackboard...It was like that for me reading this poem...knowing I couldn't get stritched. Good poem

Lyra - Too funny. I know though, that you are definitely not talking about my nails. One thing we have in common is that both of our sets of nails hate doing dishes. I have a 3 week pile just sitting in my kitchen begging to be cleaned.

I saw your reply to Martin's post, so here is a well deserved bump. I know the one I posted yesterday went into archive hell quicker then you can say, well, archive hell.lol

(giggles in delight) Oh Lyra, you have such a wonderful sense of humor, fingernails are indeed very handy for so many things, so when you need help opening a plastic package, you can always count on them!
