At the Stroke of Midnight |

Of the fantasies that incur a midnight stroke children would quiver and their voices choke, that stroke at twelve meant capes rising from their graves, the chiming of a bell meant cinderella would return a slave. As I'd watch chiller theatre at night when midnight occurred, goose bumps would alight, the time for sugar plum fairies had slipped away I would be instant bait or vampire prey. Wall clocks tell tales and complete their circuits, once alloted time runs out, through signals we're alerted. romance is clocked, as time burns at stakes evil cloaks flock: at after midnight, love is late. What has the prince of darkness to do with a wench of cinders what do tales of evil have to do with innocent 'kinder', why the hour of perdition calls when it is twelve and the way we set our clocks, is the way we delve. Smiling at this. 'Tis true, much fun begins after the stroke o' twelve, when elves and faeries and witches do dance, and the wee little creatures of the forest slide in 'n out o' the shadows, and the big creatures too come 'n look for you in the night after the stroke o' twelve. Best stay inside where ye can safely hide under downy soft blankies. LOL, I couldn't resist tacking onto this one. Thanks for the fun. |

Thanks all for reading, Irish Rose, a little dark it is. Balladeer, People wind up these days around midnight.. maybe it should be the other way around.I like the inventive spirit behind the smilies and paste on images! Marsha, I'd secretly like to go on the town more often, this is way to spend less especially since its Xmas time.. [This message has been edited by ecrivan (12-23-2001 10:44 AM).] |

Ahh, the darkling witching hour, When evil holds its sway of power, It leaves us shaking in our beds, With nightmare's dancing round our heads. Loved your creepy tale, thanks for sharing. Regards, Olias. |
