In the Black Forest of my mind,
thoughts intoxicate
like strong red wine,
and cuckoo clocks tic away
the time,
and bowed heads seem so natural
in this misty clime
while searching for an answer -
searching for any answer -
looking for a dancer,
looking for a line.

The forest is dark and dangerous,
filled with frantic fallen fellows -
past persons I may,
or may not, have been,
who have been
emptied once or twice of virtue,
but never of sin.

In this Black Forest of my mind,
there is,
of course, no way to win.  And yet,
there is no end of love.

- There still is a sense of storm and
smoldering fields with big horse flies,
and one knows - one knows -
that when one dies,
it's all the same:
an end to sweating, loving, and blame.

Cloudy skies, smoldering fields,
and big horse flies.
And one knows,
one knows!

The sign of a good poet...making one re-read it over and over and finding new meaning each time...

Thank you!
