A greater debt I’ve never paid Than bitter thorns upon me laid More dark the canopy of strife Than all the twilights of my life Deep the chasms, wide the well Where shrouding mists of sorrow dwell A canyon chiseled from despair That leaves its sands to harbor there Tears have worn a weathered hole Into the deepness of my soul Where rivers still meander through The canyon of the deepest blue The love that swirls around my face And carries me to friendship’s place Has granted payer of the toll A river’s ride through misty soul The streams flow swiftly through the gorge Between the peaks where life is forged And I can see the truth of all That echoes off a canyon wall Much greater is the love I’ve known That all the force a devil’s shown And in the shadows of the soul My strength has occupied the whole Let waters flow, let sorrow pass The joys I know will far outlast The tears that dwindle to an end Swept by the words of loving friend Thank you, my friend Liz [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (12-20-2001 09:05 AM).] |

Ah, dear, sweet Elizabeth...what a beautiful tribute to the "friend that sticketh closer than a brother". |
