The Years Passed in Haste

by Michael

At writing desk, he strokes his beard
and ponders at the gray he sees.
Thoughts cascade as he sits and thinks,
time passed in haste, but passed with ease.

Stars tumbled in eternity,
as each year died, he forged ahead.
An artist with a brush in hand,
a poet with the words he said.

The man of whom I speak, is me.
You keep your youth, I’ll keep my age.
The first poem that I ever wrote,
was written to relieve my rage.

As each year passed, I sought to shape
myself into a better man.
Sometimes I failed along the way,
but knew that I must keep the plan.

The rage is gone forevermore,
No pretense, I am who you see.
Each day I still work on this plan.
One day you’ll see a better me.

That stars can weep, I know it’s true,
because I have bathed in their tears
and cleansed myself of bitterness.
A kinder man shaped by these years.

But still, I have so many faults.
I’ll do whatever that I can.
Perhaps one day be satisfied
believe that I’m a decent man.

Indeed you are a decent man and much much more Michael.  Deep insight felt in your words today.  *s*

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Michael, I know just how you feel, for I started writing because of the exact same reason. I was depressed all my early life, and I started writing to reach out to others and share my tears with all, and to try and make the better part of me come to life. (sigh) You have become the loving man one could ever dream of being, sweet friend, and we all love you so very much! (big hugggsssss) Never change who you are, for you are special and a delight to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I like this poem because it speaks of how we can become better people, it's a lifetime goal. Great poem.

Looking inward for the teacher...a good thing, I think...you are a kind and dear friend.  Hugs!

Auguste - a most remarkable writing. I kept coming back to this one, and read it over, and over. I do not know you, but you are a decent man, in my eyes...

Michael, I like this, the pondering over ones growth and maturity, and seeing it as a good thing. And the decent part..I think you surpassed it some time ago.
