To Wish Upon a Star

Oh night of blessed souless stars,
for eons you have cast your light.
Romantic, in your solitude,
some much too far for human sight.

If fingertips could touch the sky,
her name I’d spell with heaven’s shine
and hope she saw what I had done,
while quietly dreaming she be mine.

As child, I wished upon you all.
Sometimes, I still do so today.
I know it’s only fantasy.
To have her, there is just no way.

So now I lay me down to rest,
but one last wish before I sleep.
Please always let me bring her smiles
and never give her cause to weep.

I am new to the group. I think this poem show me the unattainability, and beautiful mystery, in the star. We, in life, sometimes give all our biggest and and seemless dreams
to a star so real in everyday life. Hope.
