I'd Die At Twenty-five |

I look at my surroundings, Evaluate my life... Consider my relationships, My children, friends, my wife... I wonder how it happened- How did I become this way? I thought I'd not see thirty... I turned forty-eight last May. I used to ride the rough stock, And spent my time in bars. Did jail time for my fighting, Wrecked a couple real fast cars. I've hurt a lot of people- I'd change that if I could... If I could die at twenty-five, Rest assured, I would. When I was five and twenty- I still was young and strong. With no thought for tomorrow, Nor what was right or wrong. When I was five and twenty- I was in my prime- My best years lie behind me, I'm crowding forty-nine. The broken bones betray me, When it is damp and cold. My arthiritis tells me... "Cowboy, you're getting old." My strength and health are failing- Yet somehow I survive... If life had given me the choice- I'd die at twenty-five. |

(big hugggssssss) Oh John, this is so sad but well-written! (sigh) The beauty of the twenty-five year old man will always shine in you, always listen to your heart and approach each new day like you felt then! (sigh) Such bittersweet expression fills your wonderful words, we all love you so much! (big hugggssssss) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet John, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

for a moment i was worried...i think it's hard to reflect on your past and not have regrets but don't be too hard on yourself also, yup? |
