No consequence of words bespoke shall change in light of what I see The flame has been replaced by smoke and all's become a mockery This torch I've carried long has grown a stone cold weight I now discard For one of us must tell the truth, you see, it's really not that hard What I mistook to be the two of us was but St. Elmos' fire More show than substance now I see what hid behind my own desire That I should bathe within that glow did seem as if were destiny, and even now some part of what I am would have you here with me Yet only part, and not the whole, for I have come to realize Those shadows of what I once was are fading swiftly from your eyes To be replaced by some new spark that may burn brighter yet, you see you haven't left me in the dark, the truth is that you've set me free And so instead of heated words my parting comments take this form St. Elmos' fire for we two was not enough to keep us warm [This message has been edited by Dr.Moose1 (edited 12-18-2001).] |

That Mr Kliest was rather good being English and there fore given to understatement it translates as "I am most impressed " arthur |

*sigh* such magnificent flow with so much emotion woven into your words. Goodbyes are never pleasant for they leave behind so much that seems unfinished. My heart goes out to you. **hugs** Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams. |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh William, this is so heartwrenching but well-written! (sigh) I pray that this new spark will again bring great comfort and hope between you and him always and deep down he'll never say adieu. (sigh) We all love you so much, dearest friend, this is a very touching write! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet William, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

arthur, Thank you. As we say here in the states ( where we tend to talk too much) your comments are appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed. Doc Startime, No need, but thanks anyway. This was written as more of a right of passage than about anyone in particular. This is what I would have said, had I had the words ages ago. Be well. Doc Mistletoe Angel, Thank you. As I replied to Startime, this was not about a specific loss, but instead a loss that we all have had at one time or another, and about our changing perceptives of what really matters. I had hoped that would be what carried through. Doc |

I can relate to this very much at present. I think the end of every relationship that was once so warm, brings the truth home to thoughts like this, I know it certainly has for me. Love those last two lines especially…great way to end the poem, and begin the realization of the reality. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

Doc, I'd accept your medicine anyday, even if it's hard to swallow and tastes bad...for you have such a way of making me feel better. Keth Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Cool paint! The imagry suggesting the person could sense the end is very insightful...most go into denial and frankly don't see the end coming. I liked this very much and can identify with it deeply. |

Denise, Thank you, and the best to you and yours for the holidays. Your encouragement speeds the way. Doc Tracey, Thanks, " into every life ", and how to express it. " that is the question ". My best to you for the season . Doc Kethry, How sweet, " a little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down ". You're rather sweet yourself. Thanks for the read and reply . Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday. Doc Nan, Liberties? Traditional format? Hey, I thought this was open 17, not the workshop! But that's ok, you always know what to say ( which by the way)inspired me to post " Whispers Born Of Silence". Thanks much "Teach". A very Merry to you and yours. Doc Shou-Lao, Thank you. Your name would suggest that I am not familiar with your customs, so I will forgo my traditional holiday greetings and just wish you the best. Doc amusemi, Your interpretation is very astute, I was only about thirty years late to see the end coming, and to express my thoughts about it. Have a very happy merry . Doc |
