I Used to Want to Be a Fly

I used to want to be a fly
Unnoticed on the wall
So I could then discreetly spy
And listen to it all

Inside the High School teachers’ lounge
Where gossip is the norm
Behind the secret door they scrounge
For targets they can scorn

The rumors buzz and swiftly bounce
Through hot and stifling air
And I, a fly, am just a louse
Who really doesn’t care

At lunchtime all the women sit
They swarm and warmly nuzzle
Spontaneously they neatly fit
the pieces to my puzzle

A teachers’ suite replete with meaty
bits to chew and smatter
The more the rumors they consume
the more my ego’s flattered

The chamber filled with noisy chat
that's signaling my doom
When I'd walk in on such as that
Sheer silence haunts the room

I'd hide my smirk from hasty sweets
Designed to praise and flatter
For I am just envisioning
The unrelentless clatter

If they could only see the tasty
morsels on my platter!
And I, a fly, and they the pasty
sweets upon the later!

A light twist to what can be a hurtful practice.  Watch out for those swatters!

(big hugggssssss) Oh Elizabeth, I know this feeling ever so well, for right now I am finishing my high school year. (sigh) I am very shy and have no friends at school, so I just keep to myself and do my work as I hear storied everywhere. (sigh) So wonderfully expressed, sweet friend, I love your wonderful words! (kiss on cheek) To me you are a loving angel to all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh....did I understand this one, and I am sure a lot of others will as well.  Wouldn't it be just great if we could be a fly or invisible for even one selected time?  Very creative poem Liz.

I often wonder what others have to say about me, its just one of those things that you just want to find out.  I wish i were a fly too, maybe I'll hear something, hopefully good!  Good creativity Liz!

I think we all have wished to be the fly on
the wall from time to time...Hopefully we
won't have to worry about it...very witty
