~Mystery Of The Missing Muse~

Once upon a poet's pen
A gentle muse did play
Sharing smiles, tears and joy
In her own fun-loving way

Then one day she disappeared
It's known not where she strayed
Although I have a feeling
It's a southern trail she blazed

You see, one day, beyond the blue
She met a muse so sweet
From that day on, she had one goal
This boy muse she would meet

But his poet lived where gators dwell
And hers where cactus grew
How they'd ever chance to meet
Seems neither of them knew

They say one day she packed her pen
In search of paper'mate'
But to this day it's still unclear
The mystery of her fate

Though many theories come and go
Just one rings loud and true
And if you ask our Balladeer
He MIGHT give you a clue

"...until you have read the verse on his heart,
you have not truly met the poet.

Hey, Vicky! Don't you worry, girl.
Your muse is in good hands!
She's down here with a poet who
Loves her and understands.
She got tired of that Phoenix life
And rolling tumbleweeds
So down she came to meet a muse
Who understands her needs.

I love to have her in my mind.
Her thoughts just drive me wild.
Sometimes she's woman - other times
She is a little child.
She is a joy to have around.
I'm with her day and night
And what she does when I'm asleep
Fills me with sheer delight!!!

She and my muse fit perfectly
Like it was meant to be
And I think we will go through life
Together happily.
So if you ever want her back
It takes more than a letter.
You better catch the fastest plane
And come down here and get her!!!

I enjoyed this thread so much, Vicky, I try to write humorous poems but they seem to fall flat

Vicky...I loved this poem...and I thought
Balladeer's response was excellent along
with your poem....you inspired him..or
was it the muse?
