My father who was an artist, used to write and illustrate little books for us. This is one and I thought to use the drawings for my Christmas wishes to you all. I had to make my own lines, for his were not translateble.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

It was on a night a very dark night
Three weeks too late he came in sight
St. Nicolaas sneeked along the street
softly walking on tiptoeing feet

It was on a night a very dark night
Christmasbells ringing in star's light
Santa Claus quietly walking around
not aware of the tiptoeing sound

And on that night that very dark night
A collision!! they did bump real tight
Stars and packages flew everwhere
Won't tell the curses but they were there

Santa shouted 'Why are you here
At Christmas I'm in charge you hear'
But Sinterklaas who was quite feared
Pulled suddenly at Santa's beard

And Santa nobody wondered why
took a swing at Sinterklaas's eye
And Sinterklaas? Well he just sighed
on that night that very dark night

So in the twinkling of the stars
you could see this poor man's scars
all his packages scattered around
took a while before all was found

Santa? well he choosed for the better
and did write to Sinterklaas a letter

"Dear St. Nicolaas my good friend
all that is broken will be mend
but I will warn you for next year
don't dare showing up in my time here"

A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess...

Titia,

You have been just a treasure to have on these boards, and your poetry is so wonderfully uplifting and bright.  This one is absolutely no exception as it shows your kind, loving and giving heart.  (looks to me your Father was a dear man, to have drawn these wonderful illustrations for Christmas).  I don't know what he said in the original but I absolutely adored this version from you and will add it to our readings of our family on Christmas Eve, and say a dear friend in the Netherlands sent her wishes to us.  May God love you and keep you as sweet as you are always.  A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.

~*~  May the spirit of this season live in your heart all year through ~*~

Oh my dear friends, you are too many to answer to each personally.

Yes my father was a marvellous man, a very good painter with great humor.

The ryhmes I made very well cover his words.
He wrote little books for my mom too when they just met and as she always was called Muys, there always was a little mouse involved.

He made wonderful drawings and paintings of wich I have got a whole lot (we divided his work inheritance between me and my two sisters). You'll probably see some more from him for I love to write poetry to a pic.

Thank you so much for all your lovely words and I hope all of you have great holydays.

Love, Titia
