Ashley....(My Daughter...(8))

Could I have ever not fallen in love with you?
Is it possible for me to ever say I could not?
The thoughts of ever not having you here
unbearable to even imagine, cannot my dear.

I have loved you since that very first moment.
Holding you in my arms, you sleeping quietly.
Dark hair, the bluest eyes, tiny hands and feet.
I let you hold my finger, so tightly you did.

Tears fell from my cheeks, thinking back.
Remembering the time when we weren’t sure.
When we didn’t know if we would have you.
When our choices were not clear, were hard.

I called you “Wheetie”, “Little Goose”, “Goosling”
Don’t ever ask me why, I just did, always have.
I sat in a rocker many nights, rocking you to sleep.
You struggled so for so many months, hard to breath.

I hold you just as close now as I ever did then.
You stand beside me, so beautiful, eyes still blue.
Your infectious smile melts me, a little girl’s way.
Oh....how could I ever not want you in my life?

I love you my daughter, you are a part of me now.
I can only keep you for just so many years, I will.
I will someday give you to another man.
A man that I hope loves you as much as I do, will.

I will cry that day as I give your safety to his arms.
For you, even when you are grown, are still you.
My little girl, my Wheetie, my Goose, Goosling.
He can never take that away from me, from you.

I love you my little angel...I always have...

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, sweet Magnus, I cried reading this to feel the most beautiful love of your sweet daughter! (sigh) She is so very lucky to have such a caring and loving father like you, as I know you are lucky to have her. (big hugggssssss) May you always share your love for her, and may she grow up to have a golden loving heart always just like yours! (sigh) We all love you so very much, sweet Magnus! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This is so beautiful and sweet. Your daughter loves it I'm sure, and the she gets the more it will mean.

Tara...yep...the older she gets,  the more
she will appreciate all of this....

My wish to her and her brother is that they
will sit down and read my poetry after I
am very old and they are grown....So much
could be shared by them doing that.

Magnus, Some dad's really enjoy their daughters and sons.  You are one.  And some dad's are not afraid to let the world know.  Again, you are one.  Too bad you can't bottle this and with Christmas coming, give it to others as a gift!  Wonderful and thanks for sharing.  ME

M.E.  I could not write that way if I did
not feel that way...I cried after I wrote it.
Reading over it made me do that...Shoot,
I have trouble keeping tears down right now.

Yes.....I love my children....I remember
my own childhood...and I KNOW what they need
from me...

This is so beautiful, Magnus
It touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes.
It reminded me of how my father cried during my wedding.

What a touching way to say how much you love your daughter. I have no kids, but can just imagine the outpouring of love that a father has for his children. I'm fortunate to have two fathers, and, no matter how old I am, I'm always their little girl. As your daughter will always be your little girl.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

I didn't want to read this because i could tell from the title I would cry...and i was right.  As a woman in her early 20s getting ready to leave the nest it was a nice reminder that i will always be my Dad's "Sugar"    Thanks for that, I recommend a children's book called I'll love you forever-absolutely beautiful.  In terms of the actual form of the poem I felt like each time I ended a stanza i hit a brick wall, it wasn't soft and flowing, but it certainly didn't take away from the heartfelt message.

*sigh* This poem makes me think of the daughter I lost, I think of the what ifs, I wonder if she would have had her mothers eyes and my firy spirit. I smile, no more tears, although I come close, I remember that God has a reason for everything and I feel comfort knowing my little girl, my guardian angel watches over me, every night.
God Bless you and the many fathers out there who take pride in their children!
Cheers!
Ter.

Alone in the dark, through my thoughts comfort I do seek, through my words I find peace.

rebekah33....I appreciate your warm thoughts
and your honest criticism....Yes, you may
be very correct....but in some ways...I
wanted each part to be distinct...Plus...
I was just letting emotions pour out and
I didn't put much thought to flow....
