She's washing bloody rags by the creek-side; I heard her howling, then I saw the moon. Tonight I'll see the legions start their ride, Full payment made in tears is coming due. You hear the banshee wailing in the sky, And watch the red light glitter on the stones. I say "The end is coming"; you say, "Why?" All I can say, "I feel it in my bones." You don't believe the signs I see around-- You're rational; belief is for old fools. I'm very much afraid we have been found, And Death won't play the game by rich boy rules. The banshee keens her lost despairing tune, And combs her hair beneath the ruby moon. Nan [This message has been edited by Pilgrimage (edited 12-12-2001).] |

Excellent imagery... just wondering why she is combing her hair... just kidding... Thanks for sharing... Regards, Sudhir P.S. As a sidelight, you might be interested to know that Banshee is also a word we use in India (Hindi Language)... |

Dear Sudhir, Thanks, glad you liked it. What does Banshee mean in Hindi? Is it a harbinger of death like the Celtic myth? Nan |
