The poet weaves a tapestry
of sentences and rhymes
with words, both good and evil
of schemes and lives and times

feelings are the backdrop
they color truths and lies
words, like threads through fabric
make intricate designs

phrases hooked together
provide the ties that bind
with memories in the stitches
of loved ones who have died

emotions are the colors
they make us laugh and cry
tight threads bound together
fond hellos and sad goodbyes

form fringes round the edges
of the tapestry of life

Lyra,
You are a dream weaver of words. Your stories of hardship and overcoming them and the way you still see the wonder in the world are so inspiring. I'm glad you're my friend.

You're lovely and I'm so glad you are here, part of this, I loved the old song (remember?) by Carole King called Tapestry and I love your words.  Thank you so much for this.

Kay...thanks for your reply, and I must tell you that it was Carole King's song which inspired this poem.
