Where Have They Gone Many summers passed, time has etched into their skin. Trophies of their battle are proof of their win. Death is nothing but a milestone; to them it’s a way of life. A trail of many tears, their struggle and their strife. They’ve walked in worn out moccasins, scars to pain their feet. Only to help a blood brother in time of his defeat. How many summers past, that everyone forgot this breed? Their strength was in their heart, for the gun they had no need. Their women and their children, reason for every breath they took. Because to the pale face they meant nothing, they wouldn’t get a second look. As boys they learned to survive on the simplest means of life. How to get food and clothing with only a bow and knife. The sons of many summers, where has this kind gone? They clung together always, never standing alone. Many summers past which has taken away this breed. Their kind was nearly wiped away before they could be freed. So, if ever on a mountaintop with the whisper of the wind. Even if you are alone, near you stands a friend. And if you ever wonder...Who owns all this land? One thing you’ll know for sure...it’s not the Indian Man. ~TCH *Whatever souls are made of...his and mine are of the same* ~Emily Bronte' |

timothysangel, the ones who were here first are the ones to have lost the most. I wonder at their peacefullness after all we, the white man, did to them. Thanks for the memories, ME |

No one owns the land... and I know several who believe we are only its caretaker... this is one to be shared, and I know where to start... |

Tima~ What a lovely, lovely write~ 'So, if ever on a mountaintop with the whisper of the wind. Even if you are alone, near you stands a friend.' Oh .... yes ... here dwells the spirits from the past ... Calling .... we may have been 'first' but we are not the last~ For unto us is only given ... through roaming hearts of the living ... The means by which it all comes 'round Felt in the heart ... footprints on the ground~ Walk softly through this earth of ours for only when we cry for the past do our spirits become mired ... in longing for the long ago ... What was is ... and will always be so~ Thanks to a spirit for sharing this one with me ... And to you gentle poet for the write~ *HUGS* ~*WillowWhiteFeather*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Dear TimothysAngel, We're still here. In the sunshine, in the snow, Everywhere a spirit grows. The land is here, and so are we. As long as there is life, we're free. Nan |
