There Likely Wasn’t Snow
Virginia Salter

there likely wasn’t snow
it was probably in spring
when the angels made their show
and raised on high their song to sing

they lauded the Lord above
for the gift He’d given humanity
to protect them with His love
from sin and deeds of futile vanity

He knew right from the start--
then when the moment was just right,
He sacrificed with His whole heart,
sending Christ into the night

the heavens filled with vibrant song
in a glorious, profound light
as shepherds in their fields
were awed by reverent sight

even cattle, sheep and ass
bowed in holy awe struck joy
as they welcomed the true Lamb
in that tiny baby boy

a star stood still above His bed
glowing promises supreme
the baby swaddled toe to head
as our God fulfilled the dream

from that day, and on and on,
freedom for life eternally
was given to each one
who would call Him Lord and King

cattle lowed, and donkeys brayed
while the Spirit from on high
sent angels chorusing their praise
for in Him all sin would die

now in the winter of our lives
we have the promises of spring
eternally we will survive
when we receive our God and King

Wonderful poem!!  I have tried to put thoughts and feelings for this in a poem and can never get it right.  You did it in such a lovely way.

Virginia,
Very well done. It's a story I never tire of hearing. You described it with the dignity and honor it deserves.
