I'm Afraid To Breathe I only know how to write, my Dear Friend I only know how to speak from a heart that never turns off I only know how to react to what catches my eye But, believe me when I say it's all done out of love... I could never tell you why I am so afraid to breathe I only know the shortness in a breath that I take I only know how to look at a sunset and see it's magic, My Friend Even if another view is surely at stake... To you, I am beneath in a way I have to be Just I never feel the physical pain being there I can't make sense to why God would place me in front of you And, expect myself and this heart to not even care... I am but one thing to you and it's a way I must be But, tell me, My Friend, what will happen if I breathe? Cause it's not what you do for me that sings so loud It's an ache that I know is certainly not allowed... Don't ask me to explain why my trust lies within you All I know is there is something about the way your heart moves And, maybe it's because I found one much like the one I own I just wish I could breathe all the way in but not alone... It's a sense of safeness, a sense of grace, that I carry here It's a sense of not crying but still you see the tears And, now what do I do so I just don't breathe in? I'm afraid to breathe that you may know what I'm thinking then... Forgive me if I write like I so shouldn't write But, I refuse to let go of what I carry through the night I'm afraid to breathe even if it is just one time Cause soon the hour is through and I'm back to nothing's mine... *Sauni* @~~>~~> Sauni @~~~>~~ |

A very moving, spiritual type poem, Saunni. I especially loved the second to last verse...and the line about not crying but still seeing the tears..... I know that feeling and you have enunciated it perfectly. Your poem did make me want to shed those tears.  Lyra |
