Please take me back to yesterday
So I can look with childish eyes
At Life with wonder and surprise
Imagination on display
In youthful days of yesterday.

Please take me to those golden days
When innocence protected me
With young invincibility
Against the harshness of Life's ways
That superceded golden days.

The roads were always smooth back then
The sun was always high
The clouds resembled fairy-tale
Castles in the sky.
The dark clouds hadn't gathered yet
To desecrate my day
And love was not an instrument
Of heartache and dismay.

Please take me back to yesterday
Allow me one last chance to live
Amid the hope Life had to give
Before she took them all away
In days that followed yesterday.

Deer,
you are well named, when you make us laugh you do so with style and panache...but when you make us cry...there is no-one who can compare. *Soft sighs* for this one.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Your words often move me Balladeer, but none have ever touched me as this has.  Splendid!

'Deer dear heart, Noody does it better than you, absolutely fantastique, formidable, don't forget the french accent

And again you have the tears starting to gather in my eyes, do you have to be soooooooo good at writin emotions? Yes I suppose you must. I shall need one of your jokes now to balance it out. Pretty please I know that into every life a little rain must fall but between you and Keth I've been getting everone's share

Truly wonderful my dear friend, you really are outstanding. And no wonder all those other poets are gnashing their teeth in impotent fury, it must be soooooo galling to be consistantly out gunned, out matched and out ranked.

I love this one, absolutely excellent

'Deer - I really like the form, and the change in form with this poem.  I can tell you worked on it with skill and some patience, as changing form in midstream like that always sets me back when I write.  This is well written.  And yes, I'm posting a serious response.  Nice job, Miguel.

Ah, yes, the sweet time of childhood, the time when everything seems fine and there are no troubles.  Im going to miss those times, i am 17 quickly moving farther and farther away from these times.  *sigh*  yep, but theres only one way to look for me at my age and that is forward.  Great poem, i enjoyed it very much

That's not fair
You already got your book

Why do I always have to smile
when I see your name in blue?
Because I know when I click on it
I'll see pretty things written by you

Thank you all for the wonderful replies. Yesterday is certainly a place many of us would like to see again for a variety of reasons...but life always moves on, doesn't it?

I can't answer individual replies here because I'm fighting a losing battle with a migraine but please know I appreciate every one of you....thank you!

Quite a verse! Wow! It's been quite a day of memories, a day unlike the norm. Words, although small in size can sometimes have the biggest effect on a heart. Thank you for this write! It is truly inspiring to express myself on paper. CheerS!

And love was not an instrument
Of heartache and dismay.

It does seem to be a tool of hurt these days. I enjoyed this reminisce of yesterdays more subtle and caring ways. Challenge well met and expressed.
