There's a man on my roof standing out in the cold can someone please tell me what he's doing there? He's dressed in red satin with buttons of gold, topped with a fur trimmed hat, really, I swear! He's not a cable guy, they came last week, sent me a bill I can hardly afford. I raised such a clatter they fell off the peak, this guy must really be out of his gourd! He's got a big bag and shiny black boots wire rimmed glasses and lots of white hair. That bag is prob'ly stuffed with stolen loot, VCRS,tape-decks, and frozen eclaires! What is he doing now? That crazy guy just chucked some stuff down my chimney, No way! got in a sled with some rein-deer that fly winked while one finger on nose he did lay! Was I just dreaming, did something I ate cause me to see things on this mid-night clear? Maybe I work too hard seems that of late I don't have much time for holiday cheer Climb into bed with the covers pullled tight wife right beside me and son down the hall. Maybe the morning will shed some new light and help me make some small sense of it all. Day-light comes swiftly, there's stuff 'neath the tree, our gifts to each other, wrapped up in bows. Then one gift from Santa I almost didn't see (was that why he winked laying finger to nose ?) What my eyes dis-believing had seen in that wink were the gifts that I've had all along now I think. |
