I was traveling on my last train ride,
with my guardian muse at my side.
I turned and asked quietly,
"When God gets done with me,
can I still go back to yesterday
just one more time? to visit
sweetest memory of
first love, first kiss?"
It was underneath a sticky warm
   butterscotch sky,
   in that magical moment when
   summer sunlight falls lazily away
and dreams us deep into slumber sleep.
And just before the whispers of dawn
I found myself floating on a
   sentimental shakedown cruise,
   my mind adrift remembering how
we ran across a field of lilacs
        spread like splashes of Monet.
You held me tight and dared I
be not a stranger to Love.
O the many shades of green I saw that day
on the faces of a dozen bakery girls
as they watched us climb aboard
   that midnight train to Georgia.
But my moment of remembered ecstasy shattered
when I heard the conductor shouting loudly,
"Mama! Get off that train!"
And I heard myself shouting defiantely,
"Son! Just how long did it take you to get that ugly?"
And then that train derailed, right outside of Tallahassee.

HAHAHA. Thanks, poet Sudhir. Now go see the reply I left on yours.   Poor Marge, how in the world can she choose? Her guardian muse will have to jump on that Poet baggage train and help her.

LOL, Larry, that train ride story was a strange one for me, and the only way to end it was to derail it, since I ran out of Margie phrases after that ugly line. Her challenge is challenging, but fun.

Balladeer, YESSIR, those frozen things are the best, they melt in your mouth, and keep you from burning out too early in life. LOL, that poem nearly de-railed me last night.

Duncan, happy to see you here and laughing.

Kethry, thanks for the visit. It was an unusual train ride fantasy.

NC, thanks! Happy to give you a smile.

Joyce? Thank you so much. You are too kind! But the competition is fiercely fantastic! I'm just having fun. But of course, a new poetry book would be nice
