When Sunlight Falls

When sunlight falls
The clouds are softening my blue
for all the sky of me today
is too much space to fly

So I take deep breaths of white
inhale the moist break of color
look with my heart folded

If I can sift the air
I’ll stir it in my china bowl with love
and set it on the table to rise

Then all the sundown winds
will blow this feeling fine
into all your hearts with words

To fly to fly in opening wings
for all this sky of me today
is too much space for me alone
when sunlight falls tomorrow
it is yours

GEE WHIZ - I can't keep up with all the replies to Marge's challenge, leastwise the entire board, but this one would have been my loss to miss...loved it (as usual) Martie.

Martie~
Sister of my heart ... this is so touchingly lovely~
Particularly fond of these thoughts~

If I can sift the air
I'll stir it in my china bowl with love
and set it on the table to rise

How perfectly beautiful is this thought~
Love you bunches~

This one appears to fly so softly and effortlessly. This is just too beautiful to for me to attempt to paraphrase:

"To fly to fly in opening wings
for all this sky of me today
is too much space for me alone
when sunlight falls tomorrow
it is yours"

Yours are such beautiful thoughts.
I especially loved the notion of sifting the air into a bowl to rise.  I shared with you the joy you must have felt in while writing this poem--saved to my Mattie file.
Hugs,
Joe

What a wonderful write..

I found the following lines particularly beautiful ..

"If I can sift the air
I’ll stir it in my china bowl with love
and set it on the table to rise"

Thank you

*sigh* Just lovely.

No, not just... when you write of beauty, when you write of anything, Martie, you dabble questions between the lines. Your gracious images, and those unspoken interrogation points -- that's what I love about your writing.

A few faves:

If I can sift the air
I’ll stir it in my china bowl with love
and set it on the table to rise
~

Mmmmm (quietly). (Thanks)
