With a small gasp she sees standing
by the cabin a tall dark horse which makes
her giggle with merriment at the reminder of her dream
then her eyes go to the now open door seeing
a man standing with open arms and dark, twinkling eyes

Mesmerized by the lighted doorway
with him standing in warm welcome
she is barely aware of the driver
offering to help her from the sleigh
and has to tear her eyes away from
him to put aside the fur and step down

She walks slowly forward not noticing
the music or incredible forest of trees
that surround this beautiful cabin, set
in a scene where magic seems to lay with
the sparkles of diamonds on the snow
as it reflects the light of the full moon

She is drawn forward with a power
very familiar to her soul but one
that she has given up believing could
exist in this day and age when souls
no longer search out the one who
is meant for them above all others

As she moves closer she cannot take
her eyes from his face and see written,
clearly there, understanding that her
heart is responding but still
confusion fills her with fear as her
soul tries hard to convince her of reality

She goes directly into his embrace
to rest her head against his shoulder making
sure that this is no dream like before
but willing to accept if it is for
these feelings flowing through her
are like no others she has ever felt

Wrapping her in a protective embrace
he takes her into the cabin which
is warm and welcoming with a cheery
fire blazing and crackling in the fireplace
while before the fire is a pure ermine rug
that is so soft and inviting to see

He removes her coat as he gently leads her across
the room to sit her upon the rug leaving plenty
of room for himself but he turns from her gaze
to take a chilled bottle of champagne
from a silver bucket and pours two glasses
from a bottle saved for this special occasion

She looks about the cabin with eyes that sparkle
with delight to see how the season has
filled this small place, set in deep in
the woods, with pine boughs line the mantle
and frame the doorway and windows bringing
the sweet scent and beauty of the forest inside

She notices the holly berries scattered among
the boughs along with the fact that candles
are placed throughout the room casing
romantic shadows on walls and ceiling
and giving an even more romantic feel
that fills her with a sense of well being

Soft music is playing in the background
as her attention is drawn to the snapping
fire where she is mezmerized by the dancing
flames as they lick the logs with red and
yellow tongues that seem to flow around
encasing them as they reach with their finger upward

She more senses his presence than feels him
near as she pulls her gaze away from the
beauty of the flames to look into eyes
that reflect the fire but which also blaze
with a love and desire for her that leaves
her breathless as she tries to sip the champagne
