I know why the caged bird sings of love, flight and marvelous things, through ev'ning reign, her head hangs low punished by seeds, fate made her sow Melissa P. Monette Caged Bird Buttercream moon drips smiles saturating the silvered steel door it beams in ovation for song still, the bird wails for more ~ Tears swing and rust the cage leaving her a prisoner of sorrow, she gazes at doves leaping on love pining for peace and release of tomorrow ~ She is, but, a centerpiece of adorn jailed for their passing pleasure unable to fly through blue of sky nulled of freedom's treasure ~ Beautiful bellows breathe hope giving imagination wings to soar, her heart lifts to heaven's pearls still, her soul screams for more ~ I'm that caged bird of enchant letting love cease inside myself, there is no lock on joy's door and yet, I waste upon a shelf ~ I am rare and wond'rous in trill, though, through the night, I cry, people stare right through me see not the pain in my lullaby ~ Frayed feathers wear fallen dreams through mocking melodies of sigh, never to taste the wind's nectar, in closed hands, I slowly die By Melissa P. Ah, Melissa. the cage isn't locked..so fly free my frined...for happiness is found within, and then shared with your beloved. Hugs, Elie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Buttercream moon drips smiles saturating the silvered steel door it beams in ovation for song still, the bird wails for more ~ Tears swing and rust the cage leaving her a prisoner of sorrow, she gazes at doves leaping on love pining for peace and release of tomorrow ~ ================================ I am rare and wond'rous in trill, though, through the night, I cry, people stare right through me see not the pain in my lullaby ~ Frayed feathers wear fallen dreams through mocking melodies of sigh, never to taste the wind's nectar, in closed hands, I slowly die ======================================= Such a sad song Melis...but as always you find the perfect metaphor to express and define your emotions...then you wrap them up with your gift of imagery and cadence... "Buttercream moon drips smiles saturating the silvered steel door" How cool of an image is that ... "buttercream moon" ... I WISH I had thought of that. You dont have to pay anyone money...your talent is priceless You're the hidden cost and the thing that's lost in everything I do. |

Melissa, Apt analogy utilized here, The caged bird, the caged heart. You are showing a balance in your writing that speaks of your wisdom even though it may have been through bitter lessons and life experiences you shed the light of hope on your continued journey. This is a well written and thoughtful piece. Keep up the great work. (((HUGZ))) Dennis |
