A Different Dab O' Ink
~*Marge Tindal*~

Grab your quill and fill it
with a different dab o' ink
Tell me what images flood your mind
within this challenging piece of think~

Paint it pink - or paint it gray
Squeeze it until it sings
See just what can come of
the magic your muses bring~

The phrases are not too fancy
as to render the muses mute
You can write 'em classic
La-dee-dah, or cute~

Form is not important
nor is there a quota or limit
Come on - engage your thoughts
throw yourself right in it~

You can don a bonnet
and pen your heart-felt sonnet
Or you can just wing it
and let the blues sing it~

Now if you're at the ready
On your mark, get-set, go
Write 'em fast
or write 'em slow~

Let your muses run free
through these shared thoughts from me
The only rule that I will state
It must be 'clean as a whistle'
- so all can relate~

There is a prize being offered by moi`
an autographed copy of
Voices on the Web
Passions first book of poetic love~

The cut-off date is midnight, December 8
And I am the only judge
So don't be trying to bribe me
Cause my impartiality just won't budge !

So that I'm sure not to miss it
please send a copy of the URL
straight to the box
that holds all my e-mail

Here are the phrases
whichever your muse chooses
Everyone wins in poetry penned
and nobody really loses !

Inspirational phrases~

When Sunlight Falls

Whispers Of Dawn

Butterscotch Sky

How Long Did It Take You To Get That Ugly ?

Be Not A Stranger To Love

Sentimental Shakedown

First Love - First Kiss

Across A Field Of Lilacs Spread

Take Me Back To Yesterday

When God Gets Done With Me

How Many Shades Of Green

Mama, Get Off That Train

Baker's Dozen

*Just pen a poem using one of these phrases for your inspiration.
*Post it and send me a copy of the URL so that I may judge it.
*My e-mail address is listed in my signature.
*The prize of the Voices on the Web will be awarded to the poet who pens the poem I like best.
*Prize will be mailed when the notified winner furnishes me with hers/his address.

How easy is this ???
*BIG SMILES*
Above all .... have FUN~
~*Marge*~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

You mean something like this, Marge...?

How long did it take you to get that ugly?
Have you been that way since birth?
Or did some accident cause you to be
The ugliest thing on Earth??

Did the doctor slap your mother's face
The moment you came out?
Ripley must have died to get your pic
Of that I have no doubt!

Did your dog refuse to lick you
Without a steak around your neck?
Did the sight of you turn everyone
Into a nervous wreck?

They say that beauty is only skin deep
But ugly goes clear to the bone.
I know you're my best friend, ole LongJohn, my pal
And I love ya...now leave me ALONE!!!!!!!!

Is this whatcha mean, Marge???

When sunlight falls
From a butterscotch sky
Whispers of dawn
Take me back to yesterday
Across a field of lilacs spread
To my first love - first kiss.

I decided to be not a stranger to love.
The sentimental shakedowns
Had left me how many shades of green?

You looked at me and said
"How long did it take you to get that ugly?"
I told you you would change your tune
When God gets done with me!

So, Mama, get off that train!
I ain't no kissin' cousin!
Kiss me twelve times then once more..
Let's make a baker's dozen!!

Brilliant idea Marge. When I'm done my homework for workshop, I just may attempt one of these. I see others have started already, and it's great to see the different interpretations people can put on the same lines.

Margie girl,
Love the challenge, but I got derailed by Deer's responses it may take me a while to recover and respond. Although I think the butterscotch sky is called. mmm I love butterscotch and to have a sky of it...

Marge, this is such a fun idea! Of course, I was green with envy that I didn't think of it, but then I don't have such a great prize to offer either. Thanks for the inspiration and fun. So of course, my poem is Shades of Green, though I could only present it in one shade!!!

Let me ask one question,
Before this masterpiece I write.
I would like to try more than one
Do you think that would be alright?

BTW - Did anybody else notice the scurrilous attack on my famous looks by that rascally scalawag, 'Deer?  Oh, sure, the poem was well written, and it may have seemed funny, but he should be punished for this!  Agreed?  Good!  Now, here is what we do.  We all post mean things about 'Deer, and then he'll be sorry.  Now, isn't that a great plan?
