its fourth and twenty-one
a long road to haul yet still not done
the pressure intense and pulling me down
can't get my feet up off of the ground
I'm stuck in a way that few can describe
trapped in a hole and I'm burried alive
can't get my arm extended enough
colder than hell and yet twice as tough
fourth and twenty-one but who's keeping score
it's tied to the end and I'm stuck on the floor
no plays to call, I can't pull one out
nothings been working, can't scream and shout
4th and 21, a long way to go
4th and 21 how am I to know
that the choices I make will leave me behind
open or closed like a three of a kind
4th down and 21 years still remain
my clock still knows how to maintain
halfway down the final stride
halfway down the falling side
in the middle of the race I'm stopping here
cause I no longer care who sees me here

well, des, you're writing some simon and dylan and oh what the hell, who's the they who keep score since there's winning to tell but there's no competition, you're long down the field while the rest of here in the bleachers will yield to the touchdown you've landed inside of our souls while the refferee's whistle blows out of control since we're famished for substance and then you appear, your words just like remedy inside our ear and all this is to say, though it might not be clear, that your poetry speaks to the everywhere near in our insides so damaged because of the plight of the world and so kiddo, i must say goodnight

but before i send kisses blown off of my hand, just accept sincere thank yous and please understand that  respect for your writing is written in gold on my heart from the start of forever's unfold, and this piece, you sweet soldier, speaks all that you are from the big heart of texas to the shooting of stars...

and you are, you know, yes, james, you are yes you know... a star lighting halos of light on the show....

and friend, this is writing that's so appropot!!!!!!

Hey James, how's the weather over there?  Indian summer rocking the midwest right now.

I don't really have anything to say about your thoughts.  I think you already pretty much know what I'd say.  If you don't, then you're not thinking hard enough.  *grins*

It's nice to see you around, though, I guess I haven't really been around to notice ya. hehe

Back to work.  Catch ya later, bro.

This one gripped me from beginning to end, des... now I'm counting on a perfect Hail Mary pass into the endzone! *S* Great work!

This left me feeling that no matter what we do or how many times we go over the game plan, chances are we still can't win for losing.

Nice write!!
