Morning cast upon the dark red brick wall, Sunshine yet to touch but it’s touched by rain, Rumbles echoing from machine’s call Can not hide the whimpering of deep pain. Walls of shadowed passage are deeper still, An obscuring drizzle aids hiding here Amongst the alleyway that dark does fill, Feeling compelled I look for what I hear. Here in a huddle of misery and rags, A too young of a mother and babe cries, All of their possessions in three small bags Hiding from the falling of autumn skies. Hungry baby and mother with fever, Escaped torment to a dubious free, Out of the pan both are now in fire, Too spent they can not continue to flee. From around bloodied bowed head comes a chain, That holds her hopes upon a medallion, Shyly giving it in hopes to explain, She’s aligned with a trusted companion. I help her to stand between red brick walls, Taking her burden and steady her stride The footing is slick as the cold rain falls, Guiding her path to where she wants to hide. They’d been close when strength had faded away, Just a few steps to arrived at the door, A strong steel portal that was painted gray, Knocking and waiting I could do no more. The light burst out silhouetting my friend, I offered them and he took them away, Walking from there the rain was slow to end, As if in tears wished not to start the day. Gloom |

"Out of the pan both are now in fire, Too spent they can not continue to flee." We see this imagery all too often, in Afghanistan, India, Africa, Mexico, Bosnia, Russia,Yugoslavia, Israel, Iraq, America. Let's get them all away from these red brick walled prisons of pain and suffering. Surely there are more doors that know how to open? Thank you for caring so much. A somber scene leaving much to ponder. I agree with Midnitesun's sentiments. -MVS "Learn to let go of fear, doubt, and disbelief..." --THE MATRIX |
