Past Yourself with no Moon ....reposted for Karilea

I looked with jaded eyes
at the trail where I walked,
I even sat down and contemplated
where I was going

Picture a rock in the middle
of a dirt road in the dark.

For the moon
hid its slide from me
behind my clouded need
even though I longed for it
to touch my face
and run its pearl rays
across my hair,
the moon is not beguiled
by the want in me.

And I know the moon has no fragrance
but when it’s hidden,
the nectar of the night,
from trellises of jasmine
and the breeze that slides down
the mountain off the sage,
even the scented geranium stills
its weave across the open yard.

So not only was I on a rock
in the middle of a dirt road
but there was no night fragrance stirring.
no lace winged song of nightingale.

The sky closed me in
the breath of familiarity
and the stagnate pool of lethargy
and the rocky here I sat on
softened and sagged with me into the dirt
of some truth that had eluded me.

Instead of jumping into stars gleaming
with love dance song song tune you see
I was laying in my own melancholy,
until I felt a touch on my cheek
soft like the underbelly of a newborn kitten

and I opened my eyes to the long purple fingers
of a flowering Mexican sage
and its bloom taught me
that if you look just a little past yourself
you might be able to see
even with no moon.

Martie, I love this! What a beautiful lesson, indeed   Bravo!
I'm printing this out to show some family and friends - they NEED to read this!

Take care,

How so like you to read beyond what others write, knowing that for some, just this very thing is what they need to put one foot beyond the other....

well done, our Martie...thank you!

ah Martie..when I read your words I never fail to think... and I always have the thoughts of how when we look at things beyond the obvious...we find more than perhaps even the author knew they shared...

when I grow up...( like I am ever going to)
I want to write like you.

trust me sweet poet...moon or not...
you see just fine ...
and by your words..then so shall we
this is awesome.

We're all feeding our lonely ... like it might go away,
Like the doors of heaven will swing wide ... if we just find the right words to say.

Well I am moonstruck!  What a wonderful poem and message Martie, and somewhere in it I felt a tender tug too.

Excellent lesson within Martie and of course, these lines are indelible...

This is beautiful, very much appreciated, as a fellow moon lover.
