Take me, Love, and plunder me;
leave me by Life’s road as dead.
Good Samaritan, walk on by,
or lay a rock beneath my head.
Leave me to die beside the path;
I’ll raise no anguished cries.

my back is turned; I’ve closed my eyes.

I’m tired of walking all alone.
This burden grows each passing day.
Why do I travel in this direction?
Isn’t Eden the other way?
But my steps grow weak and weary;
loneliness and boredom come free.
I’ll be a victim without the sorrow.
Take me, Love, and plunder me!
