Happy Birthday son.  You're a wonderful man.
How could I be this old so soon?...

We were never meant to die.
So even in our old age,
We don’t have to wonder why.
It’s our infancy of eternity.

Today you were born.
Child of my youth,
Never again can I be forlorn.
Your beginning in eternity.

Today is Thirty plus years past.
I wonder where it went,
Passing by so fast?
Beginning of our eternity.

We were never meant to die.
Now I’m nearing my old age,
We don’t have to wonder why.
The infancy of my eternity.

Sin really isn’t fair.
God of all time,
Promised forever we could share.
Grace guarantees us that eternity.

Sin isn't fair, but God got even, grace isn't fair either.  larry c

I like the lines

"So even in our old age,
We don’t have to wonder why.
It’s our infancy of eternity."
What a comforting thought.

But wasn't Gracie always fair to George?

Midnitesun,
Thanks for your response.  Just a little punny.  Clever.

Larry, What an inspiring poem and a wonderful gift for your son.  They do grow up in the blink of an eye though.  Seems like only yesterday........

I truly hope this was a gift to your Son on his birthday...if not, it should have been.

Excellent.

Cindi,
It's not hard to persuade me I have a wonderful son.  You are too kind.  Thank you for your friendship.  Glad you enjoyed it.

Nancy,
How true, how true.  How can he be pushing middle age if I'm so young.  Thanks for your kind words.

Sunshine,
You give good counsel.  I actually posted it in the early hours of his b'day and was thrilled he read it almost immediately on his graveyard shift.  Thanks.

Charisma,
A gift only a parent can fully comprehend.  Thanks for your kind words.

Marie,
Where did that much time go?  Your kindness is deeply appreciated.

You write of the infancy of eternity and while these words may bring comfort to some they fill me with dread.  Maybe I am selfish but I prefer the mortal life instead.
