A Wish For Peace

As I look out to sea
Upon waters calm and blue
Dark images within my mind
Distract me from my view

My mind just can't erase
Those scenes of horror and despair
I wish there was something I could do
To let the people know I care

Through my words I write my sorrow
And try to tell you how I feel
But my words could never do justice
As this whole thing seems so surreal

As the sun starts sinking low
And the gulls take wing in flight
How I'll cherish nature's beauty
As this day fades into night

Words of hope I'll try to relay
To help bridge this distance so far
As my eyes search the constellations
And I wish upon the brightest star

Peace and freedom is what I'll wish for
And how I'll wish with all my might
As a calmness falls upon me
On this spectacular starry night
