New Awakening

Everyone faces a time in their life,
When reality sets in like a cold sharp knife.

Somewhere a voice from inside your head,
Cries out and says stop! Fairy tales are really dead.

You awaken to the fact that change must begin with you,
A sense of serenity is born brand new.

You sift through the junk and leave behind,
Things taught to you; so unkind.

Principles of honesty and integrity have not been outdated,
It's the foundation for your life properly stated.

You learn to stop competing with an image inside your head,
And learn to thank God for what you were given instead.

You learn that life is not always fair for you,
Bad things happen to others too.

Feelings of anger and resentment must be redirected,
Or everyone you love will be sadly affected.

You learn to appreciate the simple things that come your way,
Being thankful for your life and each new day.

With courage in your heart and God by your side,
A new awakening begins you new life's ride.
